MYOPIA CONTROL

We offer myopia control to help slow the progression of nearsightedness in children.  We try to slow the progression long before puberty or as soon as a child starts showing the signs of Myopia.  The younger a child is when they first start becoming nearsighted, the worse their vision will become.

Why Control Myopia?  The more myopic a person gets, the more risks of myopic eye disease, Glaucoma, Retinal degeneration and retinal detachment.  This control is best done as early as possible, hopefully well before puberty.

To control and slow this change, we offer 4 main options for myopia control:

  • Orthokeratology (Ortho-K)

  • Atropine Drug Therapy

  • MiSight Contacts

  • Stellest Glasses

Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) are special contacts that are worn overnight to gently reshape the cornea.  When you wake up the contacts are removed and the cornea stays reshaped so the vision remains clear until the evening when the lenses are reapplied. It gives you the freedom of seeing well during the day without wearing corrective lenses and also the benefit of slowing the progression of myopia.
